Aktau International Airport, which ranks third in the Republic of Kazakhstan in terms of traffic volume after Almaty and Astana airports, has purchased two IONSCAN 600 explosive trace detectors as part of its investment program to improve the material and technical equipment of the security service and in accordance with the requirements of international standards.
The IONSCAN 600 is manufactured at Smiths Detection's UK factory and is the latest generation device that allows users to accurately detect and identify a wide range of military, commercial and homemade explosives. Compact and convenient – easy to carry from one workstation to another, easy to use, the IONSCAN 600 meets the ECAC / EU, CAAC explosives detection standard.
Both detectors, after inspection by the technical department of BSK Security LLP, were delivered to the Aviation Security Screening Unit in September 2023.
One device will be used to screen passengers in the passenger terminal and the other to screen cargo in the cargo terminal.
